Hermit Crabs with translucent shell and cityscapes

Created by Aki Inomata, a japanese artistis, these Hermit Crabs were part of the project “Why not hand over a shelter to hermit crabs?” which was intended to provide an artificial shell to the crabs in artistic shapes, in this case cityscapes. The process envolved the natural transition from one shell to another that the hermit crabs usually do to find a bigger home, in this case a shell with in the shape of big cities like New York, Tokyo and Bangkok. The change between shells remind us of our own need as humans to migrate or find shelter in a new city.
